B.Pharm., 

       This is a four years course affiliated to The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, conducts the qualifying examination in February and August every year. Number of admission for this course is only sixty. Admission will be made as per the existing government rules.

Career

       Students who are completing this course are eligible to register as pharmacist and practice the profession throughout India. Opportunities are also there for those who secured high percentage in B-Pharm to render services in the Drug related field of Government sector like drug inspector, drug controller, armed services, military hospitals and railway hospitals etc. Through this degree program, the students are trained to work in hospitals as well as in pharmaceutical manufacturing and analytical units.        This is a two years post graduate degree course introduced by this college from the academic year 2004-05. B.Pharm., degree from any recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate of marks is the qualification for getting admission to M.Pharm. Department of Pharmaceutics

       The department of pharmaceutics is highly concentrating on the noval drug delivery system, micro encapsulation, nanoparticles, liposomes, transdermal drug delivery systems and sustains release dosage forms. This department encompasses an understanding of the basic physical chemistry necessary for the efficiency of dosage forms. Here the students are given training to manufacture these medicines. Industrial training is given along with curriculam. Hospital Ward and Pharmacy training is also given .

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

       The pharmaceutical chemistry laboratories are meant to inculcate the chemical aspects of drug molecules starting from the basic organic chemistry to drug design and synthesis of new drugs.Students are given proper training to identify and extract newer chemicals and toxins from natural sources.Students are taught to determine the extent of purity of raw materials and drugs in pharmaceutical dosage forms by using highly sophisticated instruments. Various synthetic drugs for HIV, antihistaminic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities are also developed.

Department of pharmacology

       The pharmaceutical activities of newly synthesized drugs are treated here. A separate registered animal house near by this department,supplies the animals for the laboratory. The research activities of this department are integrated with other departments and various traditional Indian medicines are also tested scientifically.

Departments of pharmacognosy

       This department is attached with a highly sophisticated laboratory which is well equipped with high magnification microscope and apparatus required for extraction purposes. Research work is carried on to identify the herbal plants having high medicinal value. For formulating herbal drugs various standardization procedures are also developed in this laboratory. Identification and estimation of new compounds from the medicinal plants Development and standardization of herbal formulations are the core areas of works being carried out in this department

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

       Biotechnology is an area of multidisciplinary science, involving a verity of distinct subject, where living organisms or their useful parts are put in to effective use to cater to the welfare of huminity.

Basic techniques which stimulate the progress of modern pharmaceutical biotechnology are

Recombinant DNA manipulation genetic engineering,
